Industrial Hygiene

Since our initial organization in 1986, the Clark Testing Industrial Hygiene Laboratory has supported testing and quality assurance programs for both light and heavy industry, including aluminum and steel production and fabrication, petroleum refining, power generation, and consulting firms.

Beginning in 1986, we have been accredited by AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association) for metals, organic solvents, silica, and diffusive samplers. In 2001, in our former incarnation as UEC Labs, we achieved AIHA's ISO 17025 designation, making Clark IH Lab one of the first labs in the nation to receive this accreditation.

Metal Analysis The IH Lab is accredited by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) under the Industrial Hygiene Laboratory Accreditation Program (IHLAP) for: Metals analysis in air This Laboratory is a successful participant in the following AIHA programs: Proficiency Analytical Testing(PAT) All samples are prepared by OSHA-and NIOSH-approved methods that include both hot plate and microwave digestion techniques. The analytical tests include: Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FLAA) Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption (GFAA) Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectrometry (ICP)	Silica Analysis The Silica Lab is also accredited by the AIHA for the analysis of silica and successfully participates in the PAT program. All samples are prepared and analyzed by X-ray Diffraction according to NIOSH methods which enable the lab to quantitatively and qualitatively report quartz, cristobalite, and tridymite in air and bulk samples.

Organics Analysis Our Organic Laboratory, also accredited by the American Industrial Hygiene Laboratory Accreditation Program, successfully participates in the PAT program and provides routine analysis of the following: Solvents PCBs Aldehydes PAH compounds Ketones Amines Alcohols The Organics Lab also offers special project analysis tailored to meet clients' specific needs. Samples are prepared by NIOSH, OSHA and EPA protocols. The tests are performed by: Gas Chromatography (GC) High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)	Anion Analysis The IH Laboratory has the capability to analyze anions by ion chromatography to allow determination of: Acids Ozone NOx SO2 Fluorides In addition, hexavalent chromium can be determined by ion chromatography according to OSHA method ID-215 version 2.
