Naval, Marine, & Maritime Testing - Clark Testing

Naval, Marine, & Maritime

Marine equipment is subject to extremely harsh operating conditions requiring shipbuilders and end customers place a high value on reliability and quality component manufacturers. Manufacturers whose products have not been tested and are not qualified or certified by a reputable third-party will be challenged to penetrate markets and increase their customer base. In addition to the product reliability requirements, most equipment used on vessels at sea must undergo a compliance process designed to ensure that it is able to survive the ocean’s harsh environment. This usually involves testing and sometimes certification depending on the equipment and the type of vessel it will be installed on.

Clark can reconstruct these harsh environmental conditions with our array of test systems. Mimicking entire hydraulic systems, load testing, salt corrosion, water ingress, gear box and shaft torsional load testing a among the many test program we offer to the marine industry.

Seismic OSHPD Testing

California’s Office of Statewide Health Planning & Development requires products to pass unique and intense seismic testing under ICC Evaluation Service acceptance criteria. Due to the state’s geology, the OSHPD requires that tests be performed according to soil class and seismic profile. We tested the above 9,000 lb., 15(l) x 5(w) x 12.5(h) ft. unit for soil class D at an SDS level of 2.50, translating to an AFLX-Horizontal level of 3.2 g and -Vertical level of 1.68g. The table can generate up to 5g on units weighing 2,000 lbs. and has an overall capacity of 20,000 lbs., making it one of the largest triaxial seismic tables in the world.
